A Message to Wrongfully Convicted Persons | Print |

Proving Innocence is committed to aiding those who have been wrongfully convicted. Part of being effective is knowing what we are equipped to do and what we are not. We are not equipped to accept applications from individuals or their representatives to assist in overturning a wrongful conviction. This is because we are not a legal based organization and do not have the resources for a proper intake and screening process.

What we can do is point you toward those organizations that are equipped to meet your needs. These are innocence projects which are primarily legal based. It is even possible that, should they take on your case, they may approach us to supply them with the needed investigative services. We would then be working in support of their work.

So, your first step is to go to our Recommended Web Links and make contact with an innocence project close to you. It is not unheard of for innocence projects to take on cases not in the person's geographic area, but for obvious reasons you would want to begin with those closest to you.

We sincerely wish the best for you. Referring you to others is the best thing that we can do for you at this point.
